Il Giardino Torrigiani costituisce un esempio dello stile romantico che contrassegnò i giardini all'inizio dell'Ottocento. La torre costruita da Gaetano Baccani era adibita a "specola" astronomica e nei suoi piani erano ospitate una biblioteca, una raccolta di strumenti astronomici, e sulla sommità una terrazza scoperta per l'osservazione del cielo.

The Torrigiani Gardens is a typical example of the Romantic style which characterised the gardens at the beginning of the 19th century. The tower was built by Gaetano Baccani and was used as an astronomic "observatory" and its floors housed a library, a collection of astronomic instruments and on the top an opened terrace to observe the sky.
